Young Footballers of Gentoran Football Academy in Sunyani, cannot wait for their match against the Black Starlets (Ghana U17 National Team) on Wednesday, July 30th 2008 at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

The Game forms part of the Black Starlets training tour of the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana sponsored by the Brong Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council, Ghana Football Association, and Space FM.

For the young lads at Glentoran Football Academy the match is their “Road to Stardom”.

Their Captain, 15 year old Frank Kwaku Yeboah told this reporter after their morning training session on Saturday that playing against a national side would be a great achievement “We were nobody ,we were just street boys, who taught of us becoming footballers to play against the National U17 Team of Ghana.

We shall always pray for God's blessings for Mr. Christopher Antoh Forsythe and his wife Patricia Antoh Forsythe whose benevolence has brought us here”.

The youngest Footballer of the Academy, Stephen Amissah said they will have to beat The Starlets: to thank our big Daddy Chris, his wife and his friends who have been helping us.”

Glentoran Football Academy has played fourteen matches in Brong Ahafo this year with only two of them ending in draw and the other 12 going in favour of the Ghana Glens. Some of the opponents played in the Division Two League.

Goalkeeper Adams Mohammed shouted after their training session on Saturday “Starlets will cry”. They will suffer as Adu Gyamfi Senior High School from Jamasi in the Ashanti Region suffered”.

The Ghana Glens beat Adu Gyamfi Senior High School Football team at their own backyard at Jamasi in the Ashanti region by two goals to nil barely a month ago.

Head Coach, Kwame Opuni told the reporter that his boys are poised to punish the Starlets to prove that talents on the streets must not be allowed to go waste He was full of praises to Glentoran Community Trust , Glentoran Football Academy both in Northen Ireland and Mercy Corps for their support to Glentoran Football Academy Sunyani, Ghana.

Sunyani Football fans can be sure of a thriller come Wednesday. More information about the academy can be seen at www.glentoran.org.
