This project is the brainchild of Christopher Antoh Forsythe.  He was once a homeless child and was adopted by the late Mr. George Christopher Forsythe a Belfast Head teacher who brought him to live in Belfast, Northern Ireland where he developed interest in the local club Glentoran Football Club. 

He approached Mr. Stafford Reynolds, Chairman of Glentoran Football Club in Belfast, Northern Ireland about the possibility of establishing Academy in Ghana to train street children with support of the club and the use of its name and it was agreed and hence he came to Sunyani where he was once a street child and established the Academy.

As a keen soccer fan himself with an understanding of how powerful an impact soccer can have he decided to set up Glentoran Football Academy.
